Demographics

According to 2014 estimates, Albany County had a total of 306,124 residents. There were more Female (52%) than Male (48%) residents and the median age was 37.9 years old. The majority of the county identified their race as White (77%), followed by Black or African-American (5%), Asian (5%), or American Indian and Alaska Native (less than 1%).  Eight (8%) percent of residents identified as ‘some other race’ and close to 3% as ‘two or more races’.  Approximately 5% of residents identified their ethnicity as Hispanic or Latino. Median household income, adjusted for inflation, from 2010-2014 was $59,940 with approximately 14% of residents living below the federal poverty level.
