Approximate population – 62,000 96% White, 2% Black/African American, American, 1% Asian and 1% other; median Age – 401.1; 18% under age 18; 9% 6% of individuals 5 yrs. of age and older speak a language other than English at home; at home: median income – $47,765 (13% of households earn less than $15,000 annually)

Goals

  • Build capacity of local providers to infuse Systems of Care values/principles in their work
  • Explore strategic financing to support SOC work
  • Create a service delivery system where all children and families will have a positive experience when accessing services
  • Develop a toolkit to assist families / community

Overview

Otsego County joined the NYS Success Learning Collaborative in the second year (fall 2014) of the NYS Success grant. The Family Resources Network is the lead agency for the Otsego County SOC work being done in collaboration with NYS Success Learning Collaborative. The Family Resource Center is responsible for facilitating the SOC team meetings and for documenting progress. The SOC team is working on creating a toolkit to help families in need of  services. The SOC team held a Kick-off conference on 10/24/14 “Adapting Conscious Discipline When Working with Children with Special Needs” .
